You quoted the best of Lewis in that final paragraph. 'The Abolition of Man' is a text for our times.

@Griffin Gooch and I, and some friends here on Substack, are gearing up for a Lenten collab on the Deadly Seven. Some of the reasons you mention here for not bringing kiddos into the world sound a bit like Sloth/Acedia. The living don't believe in living, maybe. If so, that's disheartening.

Thanks so much for the read and share. Yes I found almost every line of Abolition quotable when reading it for the first time recently. Will look forward to seeing what you guys come up with!

Love what you’ve written here! One thing I’d add is the fact that the west acts out a guilt-innocence (and now pleasure-pain) matrix, has way more to do with the west’s blindness to honor, rather than the actual adoption a new matrix. The guilt-innocence (and now pleasure-pain) matrixes inevitably end up as social status games, revealing that they are a veneer for a honor-shame matrix with a different moral system.

Just my thoughts, but hopefully my comment will direct some attention your way

Thanks for your thoughts here Sid. Im aware some do suggest the west is also honour-shame without knowing it. I can definitely see that when it comes to things like cancelling people, etc. good thoughts.

Thanks for reading and interacting! Financial reasons may be real too, but may be downstream of pain-pleasure since we are collectively as a society also addicted to a very high quality of life.
